7 Best & Super Delicious Electric Smoker desserts

Top seven intangible & super delicious smoker desserts!

Everyone has different expectations when it comes to desserts, but for me, anything that is sweet and can be eaten is a dessert. Desserts remind me of the kids who even find a tiny minuscule of a candy to be a rare treat. With time, the craving of our sweet tooth increases, which can only be satiated by huge pastries and fruit pies. Now let’s creep a bit into the history of desserts!

Origin of desserts:

Preserved fruits and jams were the earliest known desserts to the human race and back in the medieval age, most of these desserts were meat based. Even the delicious rice pudding we love today was used as a medicine to treat digestive issues and only the rich could afford something like sugar in the fifteenth and sixteenth century! Honey was the most common sweetener used then and sweet cakes were invented somewhere in the late fifteenth century. The Europeans began eating ice creams during the seventeenth century and by the middle of the eighteenth century, the whole world went crazy for custards, pies, cakes, pastries and other sweet dishes!

Why are desserts so popular?

Eating something sweet is considered as a good omen by almost all the cultures. We tend to celebrate good times, festivals and believe in sharing a good news with something sweet. These things not only say that humans are superstitious but also mean that we are waiting for an opportunity to eat something sweet. There are only a few people in the world who do not like sweets and modern baking ways and dessert making recipes are only making them more irresistible than ever.

Blenders, food processors, ovens, refrigerators, etc. are some of the most commonly used appliances for baking, but have you ever considered a smoker as an option? Some of you may say that smokers are too messy and do not go well with the delicate taste of a dessert. That’s true to some extent, but nothing can go wrong with the modern day electric smokers that sport a clean and hassle-free design.

Also, smoking lends a distinguishable yet rich taste to the desserts which no other cooking method can provide. Moreover, the parting taste and flavor left by the fumes of charcoal or would make them unthinkably delicious and delightful. Considering the above benefits and a whole lot of smart improvisations that a wise cook can put in, we are presenting some of the most sugar-coated, succulent and savory desserts that would indulge your sweet buds like never before!

Refrigerate the pudding and serve it to your friends and family with whipped cream.

Baker’s tips:

Use the chocolates that are dark and intense. Do not add more cocoa powder if the chocolate is bitter as it will only impart more bitterness and earthy flavor to your pudding.

Words of wisdom:

Smoked chocolate pudding can provide that perfect sweet ending to any meal. Do not use wood chips, which are mild in nature as they will be lost in the strong flavor of chocolate. Use wood chips like hickory and maple that provide a pronounced flavor to the smoked pudding.

Words of Wisdom:

Some recipes are hard to master and this recipe is certainly one of those. However, the end result is so delicious and satisfying that you should definitely give it a shot!

These were our 7 interesting, easy and vivacious dessert recipes for you all. Do try them and don’t get disheartened if something wrong because such experiences will eventually make you a pit master who never turns down a cooking challenge!

Now let’s learn a bit more about cooking desserts in a smoker:

  • Love has no labels and this proves to be true for desserts as well! Cook them in your own way as the experiences and failures teach you more than any recipe book on this planet.
  • Do not hurry things while baking. If you are not feeling right after baking a simple cake without creams and fillings, insert a sharp knife into it. If it comes out clean then you must have surely baked it right. (This tip is for the beginners so I can’t guarantee on the taste part)
  • Frozen desserts need not be cooked entirely in a smoker. Smoke only the ingredients which will add the flavor of smoke and fire and blend them in your recipe later. Even if you are smoking your ice cream in a smoker make sure that you have added enough ice cubes and cold water in the tray or you will have to taste molten dessert instead of a frozen one.
  • Fresh ingredients like whisked cream, fruits, butter etc. catch the smoky flavor quickly. Therefore, monitor your timings perfectly before smoking such items.
  • Make sure that there is sufficient distance between the firebox of your smoker and the cooking grates where the desserts are placed. Unlike meat recipes, desserts are delicate and more sensitive towards direct heat. You surely wouldn’t mind a bit of burnt meat, but believe me, burnt desserts taste awful!
  • Let us learn more about the basic ingredients which are needed for a dessert. This will help you to keep things close-by when you are planning to start your baking escapade! :

Baking flour:

Popularly known as all-purpose flour, it can be used to bake anything from a cake, muffin, cookies, pies, etc. They are easily available at any mall or grocery shop.

The other types of flour include self-raising flours, pastry flours, cake flours, etc. that differ slightly from the baking flour and have their own advantages. Cornstarch can be used to add more substance in the dilute cream fillings and sweet sauces you wish to use in your dessert.

Do not expose these flours to light, heat, and moisture. Store them in airtight containers and keep them in dark places.

Leavening agents:

Leavening agents are the agents that make the dough mixture light, airy and cause them to rise. These include baking soda, baking powder, yeast or even biological leavening agents like eggs.

Desserts cannot be perfect without them and therefore having some of them is always an advantage.

Sugar:

We all have sugar in our home, but desserts don’t just require normal raw sugar. They require sugar syrups, powdered sugar and even brown sugar for some recipes.

Other natural sweeteners include molasses, honey, coconut sugar, etc.

Dairy products:

Dairy products like milk, cheese, unsalted butter, etc. play a large role in the dessert recipes. Soy milk, coconut milk, rice milk, etc. are also used in some of the recipes. The whisked cream is another ingredient which you cannot miss out on!

Flavorings:

Flavorings include a whole lot of ingredients such as nuts, cashews, almonds, pecans, and much more. They also include vanilla essence or extracts, rum extract, lemon essence, and a lot more.

Using these flavorings will surely add an edge to your desserts!

Spices:

Even the spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, etc. add their own peculiar flavor the desserts. Store these spices as they also prove to be useful in cooking recipes other than desserts.

Apart from these ingredients, salt and oil also have their own place in the dessert recipes. Sea salt flakes are used as a topping on many desserts. Oil is used to add texture to your dough and to even roast the other ingredients.

Parting words…

Desserts are generally served as a sweet culmination to your spicy and hot meals. Therefore, they enjoy a prime spot in party menus, buffets, or any other meal in your home or restaurants. Maneuvering a perfect recipe is a skillful art and it comes with dedication and perseverance. Try the above recipes as they are delicious, easy from start till finish and do not require the use of expensive baking appliances and tools. All you need is an electric smoker, few of the basic ingredients and you will easily manage to dish out some of the best desserts in your town!
